Presidents Blog April 2011

The Club has been fortunate to have been able to overcome the losses from wet weather in the first half of the year. Although there is continuing inclement weather, the course has withstood most and we have had minimal days lost by wet weather since Christmas.

The Club is now not reliant on golf revenue alone. For the last five years, the Club has undertaken development within the clubhouse and now has a first class venue for in-house dining, weddings and other functions. The revenue from weddings and functions has, in part, offset the losses from golfing.

It is unfortunate to see two Gold Coast golf courses going into voluntary receivership. It is an indication that, to survive these times of continuous inclement weather and the GFC, clubs must diversify to survive.

Don't forget the Open Day on this coming Sunday afternoon. It is an opportunity for prospective members to find out more about our golfcourse, try it out and attend a Golf clinic (booking essential). In addition, there is entertainment and presentation of wedding and function facilities.
