Monster Meat Tray Raffles, this Friday night 25 May 2012

 THIS FRIDAY NIGHT - we are once again holding the MONSTER MEAT TRAY RAFFLE NIGHT with 6 huge meat trays up for grabs plus other prizes. Tickets will be available on the night from 5pm at reception. There will be 2 draws during the night, one at 6.30pm (2 trays plus other prizes) and the second draw at 8.00pm (4 trays plus other prizes)

RBGC Finance Report for April 2012

Due to missing the publishing deadline, there is no finance report in the current club newsletter. However, the finance report is below:

The Club reported a loss for the month of April albeit a small loss of $818.

Contributing factors were a number of lost days following heavy rain as well as large poker machine payouts over the month. Of concern was the reduction in  Bar, Function and Green fees against the corresponding period of 2011.

During April the club held 3 weddings, 1 Corporate golf day, 1 Members birthday function as well as a number of member/promotional events.

Looking further into our results and having researched results locally it is interesting to note that other Clubs and Hotels in the area reported a significant downturn for April 2012.

This may be simply a "one off poor month", however it tends to reflect a broader slowdown in consumer spending and it is fortunate that our club remains in a solid financial position and will weather any downturn quite well.

An example of our position is that we have no fulltime men’s membership available. The vast majority of golf clubs across Australia would envy our position.

With the completion of the renovations to the Ladies Facilities  and the construction of the new Gazebo ,this  brings to an end any capital works for this financial year. We will continue to complete regular repairs and maintenance as required but the Board has no further capital expenditure planned at the present time.

Wages and salaries for the month remained within the parameters set by the Board .

As stated earlier, our Club remains in a good financial position and this is  supported by our Internal auditor’s report for April. We will remain vigilant on costs whilst offering the best experience for all members and guests both on and off the course.

Volunteers environment has changed!

The volunteer working environment is changing, with respect to what volunteers can and can't do. Furthermore, as Committees transition, and as a result of them being bound by constitutions which is further compounded by the Federal Work Health and Safety Laws which were introduced as of 1st January 2012, they do have a primary Duty of Care as per Section 19 of the Work Health and Safety Act 2012. They need to ensure so far as reasonably practicable, the health and safety of ALL workers and other persons (including volunteers). You cannot, as a Committee, disqualify your Duty of Care.

One way to ensure your Duty of Care is to develop a formal induction for your volunteers and ensure all volunteers complete the induction and understand their respective duties, the potential risks involved and their responsibility towards these prior to commencing work. In my opinion, this would include the consumption of alcohol whilst performing work duties; especially where higher risk work duties are involved.

Round 1 - Friday 18 May– @ Carbrook GC – 12pm SHOTGUN
$25 per person (Inc: burger before game, finger food post game and competition fee)
2 players from each club per group (single stableford medley (men and women))

RBGC Memorial Golf Day 2012

Congratulation once again to Tony Stanton and the organizing committee of the RBGC Memorial Golf Day for 2012 for delivering a faultless event at the club yesterday. the prizes on offer were simply exceptional and I am sure that all participating members had a great day whilst remembering those members that the club has lost over the years!
