September was another busy month at the club for not only trade but also for the clean up of debris caused by the freak storm that hit the course on 9 Sept. I would like to thanks the extra efforts put in by our greens staff along with the many volunteers that assisted.
The kitchen renovations are now complete and the staff are now used to the new flow from order to service. We are now in the process of analysing the wait time experienced by customers waiting in the line to order and looking at ideas on how this can be reduced. This is now even more necessary due to the addition of members 2-4-1 dining on Wednesday night as well. This addition has proved just as popular as the Thursday night offer and I thank all our members and guests for supporting the club.
The return serve of the Battle of the Bay was played on Friday, 14 Oct between RBGC and Carbrook GC and after our first round loss to Carbrook GC, the RBGC players were very keen to send CGC back to their club without the trophy. The day saw some great stableford scores but none better the RBGC's Bill Sneddon who massed 45 points to win the individual aspect of the comp. The main trophy of the day was the team result. This was the tally of the top 15 cards from each club. RGGC scored 531 points compared to Carbrook GC's 525 points. Well done to the RBGC players and thank you for supporting this event and district golf.
Last week I attended the National conference of Golf Management Australia in Melbourne. This was an excellent conference with world renowned speakers and fantastic learning content. It was certainly clear that the issues that golfers experience here at RBGC are issues ecperienced by clubs over the country especially slow play and the value of membership. I have returned with many ideas and strategies to implement over the coming months and to discuss with the board.
Bookings for Xmas parties at the club are also coming in fast so if you are considering having a Xmas event here at the club with your family, business, staff of community group, please call 32067011 and speak with Fiona.
