Now these are tough local rules! From 1940

British Golf Rules in 1940
And, you thought you were a tough weather golfer.
This notice posted in war-torn Britain in 1940 for golfers

with stiff upper lips.
You have to admit --- these guys really had guts!
German aircraft from Norway would fly on missions to

northern England ; because of the icy weather conditions,
the barrels of their guns had a small dab of wax to protect
them. As they crossed the coast, they would clear their guns
by firing a few rounds at the golf courses. Golfers were
urged to take cover.

Day books a date for comeback & Reed aims for hat-trick!

JASON Day will have rested his damaged foot for a month when he makes his eagerly-awaited comeback to the PGA Tour on May 3 at the Wells Fargo Championship in North Carolina.
His return date has just been set after a positive update on the recovery of the foot tendon injury that forced his frustrating withdrawal midway through the second round of the US Masters at Augusta National.
Day, currently No.17 in the world rankings, can also solidify his season with good showings in the events that follow at The Players Championship and the HP Byron Nelson Championship, which he won in 2010.
------------
THERE is an anxious time ahead for Aussie golfer Matthew Giles after drink-driving allegations when he crashed a car into a house in Gilbert, near Phoenix, last week.
The front end of the car went through a wall of the house, fractured a gas pipe and forced the evacuation of several houses.
The Nationwide Tour pro spent a night in jail and faces criminal damage and driving under the influence charges.
------------
REDLAND Bay-based Heath Reed is aiming for a hat-trick of victories in the Coca-Cola Morobe Open which tees off in Papua New Guinea from Thursday.
Reed moved to Redland Bay in January and regularly takes advantage of the facilities at the go-ahead club.
------------
FORMER Test cricketer Greg Blewett has earned selection in the South Australian side to contest the Australian interstate teams matches at Royal Adelaide from next Tuesday.
It is a first for Blewett, 40, who plays at Kooyonga where Sir Donald Bradman broke his age on the course late in life. Top amateur Cameron Smith will lead Queensland's defence.

On Tour with Heath Reed

Hi my name is Heath Reed and I have been a member of the Australian PGA since 2003.

I moved to Redland Bay January 2012 and have played and practice at Redland Bay for a number of years. I am very proud to call it my home course and plan to live here for a long time.

My Career Highlights are

2008 South Australian PGA
2011 Lea Open (PNG)
2012 Lea Open (PNG)
16 PRO AM Wins (QLD,ACT,WA,SA,VIC)

Playing the 3rd round of the Australian PGA with Bubba Watson.

I am currently on the One Asia and Australian Tour. I plan to write a small summary of my life on tour quarterly for the Redland Bay Golf Club Blog.

January Highlights

Quite month only a few events but the highlights were playing with Peter Lonard the last 2 round of the Victorian PGA. It was great to watch how he conducted himself on the course and the professional manner he approached every aspect of his game. I finished 22nd with 72,68,69,71 4 under par.

The other was having a chance to Qualify for this years British Open played at Kingston Heath. I was coming 3rd after the first round with a 2under 70 but had 76 in the second round playing in the strongest winds I have ever played in finishing 12th with only the top 3 qualifying.

February Highlights

Taking 6 members of Redland Bay and a Kiwi to tackle the sand belts of Melbourne. We played Woodlands, Southern and Yarra Yarra with Tony De Luca winning the event. It was a great trip with good weather the boys really enjoyed the experience of playing the sandbelts.

Steve Cairns caddied for me at Towoomba in the QLD PGA and I was coming 3rd after the first round with a 4 under 68 but faded away toand due to bad weather the event was shortened to 3 rounds leaving Steve and I playing lots of chess on a large board they had in the club house. Wasn't the most exciting weekend and eventual I finished 42nd on even par.

Royal Pines Pro Am was my best golf for the month finishing 6th with scores of 66,70,69 totaling 11under par.

Other Results for Feb
Victoria PGA  M/C
Lakelands Pro Am 2nd with 5 under 67.

March Highlights

Conducted another trip to Melbourne with 6 Redland Bay members and a good friend from Rockhampton who took them all to the cleaners winning the event. Once again the course were fantastic and a good time had by all.

Played in the NZ PGA at the Hills course in Queenstown. The course was fantastic and the weather was perfect. My scores we erratic with 74,70,77,69 finishing 49th two over par.

Quite time of the year for me as my main events are from September through to December.

My schedule for the next 3 months is of to PNG for the Lea Open 100k and PNG Open 130k (Port Moresby) leaving April 23rd. Hoping I can win my 3rd Lea Open in a row and win the PNG open after finishing 2nd last year.

Then of to the QLD mining towns in May for six two round events each around 20k over 3 weeks.

THE SONG’S OF THE EAGLES
THE SONG’S OF THE EAGLES, fills the musical void left behind when the world's much-loved rock superstars, The Eagles, disbanded in 1982.
From the '70s through to the '80s, The Eagles were a major force in the world music scene. They were heaped with Gold and Platinum Records, showered with awards, and struggled to keep up with demand for product and live appearances, a strain that many say led to their break-up.

Now three highly respected, multi-talented musicians present THE SONG’S OF THE EAGLES , a faithful recreation of The Eagles' timeless hits, in a show that salutes the talent and musicianship of the original members. THE SONG’S OF THE EAGLES focuses on The Eagle's Hell Freezes Over Tour of the early '90s, capturing the an era when The Eagle's music undeniably transcended the boundaries of rock, R&B and country.

THE SONG’S OF THE EAGLES is an exciting showcase of all the chart-toppers, such as Take it Easy, One of These Nights, Take it to the Limit, Heartache Tonight, Hotel California, Lyin' Eyes, Witchy Woman, New Kid In Town, Tequila Sunrise, Desperado, Best of My Love and Life in the Fast Lane, as well as more recent releases, Get Over It and Love Will Keep Us Alive. The group also performs selected solo hits of 1971 founding members Don Henley and Glen Frey, and Joe Walsh, who joined The Eagles in 1975. The music of The Eagles touched the hearts of a generation. If you enjoyed life in the fast lane in the '70s, or simply yearn for a night at the Hotel California, don't miss this amazing multi media show.

THE SONG’S OF THE BEE GEES
Barry Gibb along with his twin brothers Robin and Maurice, began in the Sixties as Australia's answer to The Beatles, and in the Seventies were the inspiration behind a global passion for disco music.
Today, no party is complete without them & no night on the town can end without hearing at least one of their harmony laden tracks. The Bee Gees music is 'timeless', and fans around the world constantly crave the opportunity to hear their songs performed live. This amazing recreation of The Bee Gees music is based on the 1997 One Night Only concert in Las Vegas, and the highly acclaimed live recording of that concert later released on DVD.
This show's playlist has been hailed as the definitive collection of Bee Gees hits, and includes best loved songs such as Massachusetts, Words, Spicks and Specks, Tragedy, I Started a Joke, How Deep Is Your Love, Run to Me, along with disco tracks, Night Fever, Stayin' Alive and You Should Be Dancin'. This show also present a touching tribute to the two lost Gibb brothers, Andy and Maurice.
