Due to the massive popularity of the Members 2-4-1 Dining on Thursday, we have decided to add Wednesday as another 2-4-1 Members Dining Night commencing next Wednesday, 5 October 2011. The menu below details the culinary options available along with nightly specials seen on the 'specials board.' Thanks goes to those members who have supported the dining at the club and we hope that this new addition to the club's night activities will appeal to and suit other members.

'Pay as you Golf' is an independant copany that has developed a facility that allows you to pay your annual club membership fees each month rather than all at once. This facility allows you to spread out the cost of membership fees over a period of 4 - 10 months.

The return serve event between Redland Bay & Carbrook Golf Clubs called Battle of the Bay - Redland Bay GC v's Carbrook GC, is scheduled for Friday, 14 October 2011. Which club will reign supreme?

RBGC Open Day - Sunday, 16 October 2011

To celebrate and promote the reduction of the Junior ($150 per year) and Cadets ($50 per year) annual fees passed at the previous AGM and to showcase the golf club to more residents in this area, we are hosting an Open Day at the Redland Bay Golf Club on Sunday, 16 October 2011 from 1pm to 4pm. The day will be FREE and members of the club are also very welcome to attend. The day will consist of:

• Jumping castle
• Face painter
• Entertainment on the deck (Scott Sinclair - Soloist)
• BBQ
• FREE 9 holes of golf
• Golf clinic (Bookings essential!)
• Chipping competition
• Wedding display

Storm Damage - Friday, 9 September 2011

As you may know, a huge storm passed through the course on Friday that caused significant damage to trees on couse. I would like to thanks the Max and his green staff for the massive effort they put in to get the course back into shape for the final round of the club championship on Saturday. Unfortunately, on Monday, 12 September and possibly Tuesday, 13 September (TBA) there will only be a 17 hole competition to allow the green staff to finish the removal of all debris from the area around the 6th & 7th holes.

A huge thank you to all those members that supported the Membership Draw conducted on Friday, 9 September at the Club. It was very pleasing to see that the prizes were won by members that continually support the club and the activities we have here.

Bistro closure this Sunday to Tuesday

 BISTRO CLOSURE THIS WEEK

The bistro will be closed for renovations from Sunday, 11 Sept to Tuesday, 13 Sept inclusive.

On Sunday, there will be a BBQ operating on the deck from 9am till 5.30pm with Bacon & egg burgers available from 9am to 11am and then hamburgers from 11am to 5.30pm.

On Tuesday for the ladies, we will have sandwiches available displayed in the cold bain maree which will be set up in the function room along with a tea & coffee station.

As the club does not handle any of the PAYG applications, it is recommended that the application form be submitted to 'Pay as you Golf' early as it can take up to 10 days to process.  PAYG advise us when they have received the paperwork and approximately when we can expect the payment. Only when payment is received do we process the membership renewal. For more information, please contact 'Pay as you Golf'.

GA Handicap System Changes - 19 to 21 Sept

Details of the Four Priority Changes below:

The following Four Priority Changes to the GA Handicap System will come into effect on Wednesday 21 September:
1. Alter ‘Best 10 of 20’ to ‘Best 8 of 20’.
2. Change the Multiplier from 0.96 to 0.93.
3. Introduce an Anchor which will prevent a player’s handicap from increasing any more than 4 strokes beyond their best exact handicap from the previous 12-month rolling period.
4. GOLF Link will cap the score that goes into a player’s handicap record at no more than the following amount over the course rating: • 50-women • 40-men

FAQs -

• From 21 September 2011, my handicap calculation will be based on the best 8 of my most recent 20 scores. Do I still divide the total by 10 before multiplying by the new figure of 0.93? No, you will need to divide the total by 8.
• • When the Anchor comes into effect on 21 September 2011, can my Anchor handicap come from before 21 September 2011? Yes, on 21 September 2011, a player’s Anchor handicap will be the best exact handicap they have achieved in the period between 21 September 2010 and 21 September 2011.
• • What if I’m coming back from an injury or my handicap clearly won’t be sufficient for some other reason? As has always been the case, the club should manually adjust your handicap – when your club enters your new handicap into GOLF Link, it will over-ride the old Anchor. Clubs are encouraged to make use of thisregulation when needed.

Message from the Director of Match regarding Club Champs

In the final round of the Men’s Club Championships, on 10 September the seeding will be reduced to the top 8 in A Grade. Tee off will be in the following order: 8, 7, 6 and 5 will be off at 10.48 and 4, 3, 2 and 1 at 10.54. At the conclusion of the day’s play, during presentation, the club will be providing some light snacks and a happy hour. It would be satisfying to see members and guests attend the presentation at the conclusion of the day. Mike Fitzgerald - Director of Match

Golf Membership Fees for 2011-12

Golf Membership renewal notices have now been mailed out to all of the Redland Bay Golf Club members. We can accept payment of these fees immediately if you would like to avoid the crowds and pay early. Please see the office staff between the hours of 9am to 5pm weekdays or 10am to 5pm on Saturday. Alternatively, you can pay via EFT on line into the clubs main account. All the details for this is on the renewal notice provided.
